MARICAR REYES is in real life a medical doctor. She describe her job as "anti-aging doctor" but as of this writing, Maricar is still a general practitioner as she is still waiting for the result of the board exams.
Maricar Reyes started in showbiz as a commercial model. She appeared in a Ponds commercial and many critics has given her a nod. After being noticed as a beautiful model, ABS-CBN has given her a break in "Betty La Fea". She also appeared in "ASAP" and once in "Wowowee".
But the "Betty La Fea" soap has given her a bigger exposure in television. But even though she's appearing in the show, she always find a time performing her medical practice.
Just recently, Maricar Reyes was involved in a sex video scandal showing her and Dr. Hayden Kho Jr. doing their thing. In fact, some rumors said that there are more than one videos involving her and Hayden that are distributed locally and in the internet.
But Maricar kept her silence in the issue unlike Katrina Halili who has brought the issue in courts. Despite the sex video scandal, Maricar remained strong and continues with her work. ABS-CBN has given her more projects and she was featured in the network's show "Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers" in its Book 8 titled "Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered". She is paired with Ahron Villena where she plays the role of Sandy, the submissive and patient wife of Pio (Ahron).
Maricar guested in "May Bikas Pa" in ABS-CBN primetime where she joined the miracle boy Santino. The said show topped the TV charts for that week not giving a chance for its competitors to even come close in the ratings nationwide. Some fans said they were intrigued with her for her involvement in the sex video scandal and want to see what she's got in acting that's why they followed Maricar in her episode in "May Bukas Pa". The fans and critics were amazed on her superb performance in "May Bukas Pa" where she plays as a woman with her own world. It was a very challenging role for a beginner like her but she had it with flying colors.
After "May Bukas Pa", critics again lauded her performance in "Your Song Presents: Gaano Kita Kamahal" where she plays the lead role and her biggest break so far. This time, Maricar is tested for her acting in drama where she portrays the role of a piano tutor, who, in turn of events, fall in love with the father (Sid Lucero) of her student. Things become more complicated when he do fall in love with her since his wife (Jodi Sta. Maria) is very busy with her work. It is a tale of true love and betrayal and again, Maricar gets the nod of critics for her performance.
Her next project in TV is "Lovers In Paris", a local adaptation of a Koreanovela with the same title, which is topbilled by Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion. Maricar is billed as one of the main cast of the said TV soap. She will portray the girlfriend of Piolo and tries her acting prowess with a powerhouse cast which includes Zanjoe Marudo, Christopher De Leon, Tonton Gutierrez, Mickey Ferriols and others.
In movies, Maricar debuted in "And I Love You So" as one of the supporting casts to Sam Milby, Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay. The movie was a big hit and movie critics had nothing to say but positive for the whole movie. You can view the full movie trailer of "And I Love You So" here.
Maricar also graced the cover of Metro Magazine in it's August 2009 issue. The magazine August issue was a "bestseller" due to Maricar's silence on the issue of Hayden Kho sex video scandal. It was advertised by some websites that Maricar has spoken and answers questions regarding the scandal where she was involved with.
As a proof she has already moved on from the sex video scandal, Maricar made some Tv guestings in different ABS-CBN shows. She even visited Cagayan de Oro City together with John Lloyd Cruz and other Kapamilya stars during the city's fiesta celebration.
